The spikes are made from a carbon steel alloy, which is 66% lighter than quenched and tempered steel. These stylish, light weight spikes provide a psychological boost to athletes in major competitions.

Due to their lighter material Carbon Lite spikes are quicker wearing than quenched and tempered steel spikes. For a more durable version of these spikes for training and competition, you may wish to consider our traditional Pyramid Spikes 6mm.

6mm Pyramid Spikes are a versatile all round track & field spike for use on synthetic tracks. They are a popular choice for all athletics events and the preferred spike for long distance runners.

The conical design of the spikes mean that they have a sharp tip, which will penetrate the track surface to provide traction. Compared to other spike styles, they will penetrate a track surface more deeply, as the force of an athlete will be concentrated onto the narrow tip.

Overtime, the tip will wear down from usage, blunting the spike. Taking care of your spikes will maximise their lifespan.

Our spikes are easily replaceable when the time comes, using a standard spikes key. Our replacement spikes are compatible with all major spike shoe brands, including Nike, Adidas, Asics, Puma and New Balance.

Although they can be used for all events, 6mm Pyramid Spikes are usually preferred to Christmas Tree Spikes when competing in long distance events and steeplechase. For other events (sprints, middle distance and jumps) whether an athlete prefers Pyramid Spikes or Christmas Tree Spikes is a personal preference. It is not recommended to wear Carbon Lite spikes in cross country events.
